Liberation Peer Counseling: Introduction
by R. Michael Fisher - Saturday, October 25, 2014, 07:00 AM

Liberation Peer Counseling (LPC) is a philosophy, theory, methodology where people learn how they were hurt and how they heal. It is not individualized learning only, e.g., for self-development, but for human/earth development, where the practices lead to ending oppression (suffering) for all beings. The basics of LPC are outlined in the recent brochure (see below), and I'm excited to be offering this liberation work again, as it has been near a decade since I last taught a course. I began learning co-counseling models in the early 1980s and took a fundamentals class in Re-evaluation Counseling from a trainer. I practiced it for about ten years and then started teaching it in the early 1990s as part of the fear vaccine process at the In Search of Fearlessness Community in Calgary, AB, Canada. Eventually, I'll write an article on the interesting history of all this, but for now I merely wanted to leave you with the brochure as a first introduction and making you aware of how this fundamental work is core to everything I know and do in the world. It came to me as transformative work nearly a decade before I started on the fear and fearlessness research and writing. So, it is very important, and I trust it will be of interest to the CSIIE community now and in the future. I'd be glad to talk further with anyone who is interested.
